This year, NCJW|LA had the privilege of hosting Sofia Martinez, a Coro Fellow, whose passion for social impact and curiosity for systems change brought new energy and perspective to our work.
Through hands-on experience across departments, Sofia explored how direct support, advocacy, and community partnerships come together to create real, lasting change.
“My time in the nonprofit sector at NCJW|LA was nothing short of inspiring. Learning from the people behind the organization’s programming deepened my understanding of how compassion and collaboration create meaningful impact,” said Sofia Martinez, Coro Fellow.
“I’ll keep this experience close as I navigate my future career, approaching my work with the same empathy and community-minded spirit I witnessed here.”
From supporting program evaluation to learning about the stories behind our housing and economic justice initiatives, her contributions helped strengthen our mission to advance equity and opportunity for women and families in Los Angeles.
Our team was equally inspired by her dedication and insight.

Her time with us was a reminder that mentorship goes both ways. While we helped guide her, she helped shape our programs, challenge our thinking, and strengthen our team. We’re so grateful to be part of her journey, and we know she’s just getting started.”
