Over the past few months, NCJWLA has been listening to hundreds of our supporters, program participants, and community partners to help guide us during our transition away from NCJW National. This moment, though unexpected, offers us a chance to reflect on who we are and what we stand for.
Here For Good
We are an organization rooted in Jewish values and inspired by generations of women who understood that strengthening families is fundamental for a thriving community. Those values continue to guide our work with dignity, agency, and justice at the center.
Our mission remains unchanged. Across Los Angeles and California, we continue to support women and families in moments of crisis, preventing hardship from deepening and creating access to more stable, sustainable futures. We respond to immediate needs while investing in long-term pathways.
As we look ahead, we are embracing a name that reflects both our heritage and the future we are building.
Introducing Fore Women
We are proud to introduce Fore Women, a name that honors our history and centers our forward-looking focus. Fore Women gives us direction and grounds our work to expand access to economic stability, strengthen pathways to employment, and increase opportunity for women and the families they lift along with them.
Our new name reminds us that our purpose and values remain constant. This moment is a reinvestment in our commitment to women and families throughout Los Angeles and California. With sharper focus and a clear vision, we are grateful you are with us on this journey and look forward to sharing more in the months ahead.
Good Keeps Getting Better
As part of this change, we’ve introduced a new model to our programming. The core elements of our organization are captured in three program areas.
- Fore You. These are our direct services. We provide dependable cash and support women without strings attached. This enables women in our community to gain stability and support their families.
- Fore Thought. This is our advocacy program. Our team provides thought leadership to our community and develops policies and strategies to make prosperity a reality in California.
- Fore Goods. Our retail program makes it possible for us to innovate in our work. Fore Goods shops create opportunities and are part of our professional development training. Along the way, your shopping helps fund our work.
Over the last few months, we’ve been growing in how we deliver our work and refining our theory of change. Our Work is built on common sense ideas that help build a strong community. First, start with women and their families. Then help them move forward through three key strategies:
- Stability. Invest in their basic stability with no strings attached.
- Mobility. Support their mobility through opportunity.
- Prosperity. Promote ideas and policies that create a prosperous community.
Our brand is informed by this idea. This format provides clarity regarding the work we do to support our community, and we believe it will enable us to be more effective while reaching more people in California.
With this new vision, our long history in this work, and your support, we can help women in California thrive. Because of that, we believe the whole community will thrive.
