As a newly single mother of three, Jacky was struggling. Through an NCJWLA support group, she found community and the encouragement to return to Cal State LA to finish her degree.
When expenses threatened to derail her progress, NCJWLA provided a scholarship for childcare, transportation, and school supplies. “It meant I could keep going,” she says.
Jacky then enrolled in Career MOMentum, our job training program, rebuilding her confidence and gaining hands-on experience at The Council Shop.
“I can’t describe the relief I felt. I didn’t even know organizations like this existed. I was at such a vulnerable time, and [NCJWLA] was there to help.” Jacky, NCJWLA Program Participant.
Today, with support from our career program, she secured a full-time job she loves with a schedule that supports her family.
