During the Passover Seder, we retell a story rooted in liberation, resilience, and the courage to move forward with hope. We are also called to name the modern “plagues” that still deny freedoms and keep too many families from reaching safety and stability.
At NCJWLA, our work is focused on poverty — one of the most devastating “plagues” of our modern times. As the price of groceries, gas, and housing rises, too many parents are forced to make impossible choices. Poverty limits options, erodes stability, and can make everyday life feel overwhelming.
We see working mothers doing everything they can to keep a roof overhead while navigating the rising cost of raising a family. Many are also balancing these demands while attempting to access training, resources, and opportunities that lead to sustainable careers.
That is why our work focuses on what it takes to truly move forward.
We help families meet their basic needs with dignity, build mobility through career training and financial education, and invest in future prosperity. Because liberation isn’t only a moment; it’s what becomes possible when people have the resources to create lasting change for themselves and their families.
