At Fore Women, our work has always centered on ensuring economic justice, strengthening families, and creating pathways for women and communities to thrive. As we continue expanding our impact across Los Angeles, we are proud to welcome our new Chief Program Officer, Nabila Dunbar.
Bringing a deep commitment to equity, systems change, and community-centered leadership, Nabila steps into this role with a vision rooted in connecting advocacy and direct services in meaningful and transformative ways.
“Direct services and advocacy are deeply interconnected because the programs many families rely on are ultimately shaped by public policy decisions,” Nabila shared.
“Strengthening that connection means ensuring the lived experiences, stories, and voices of program participants directly inform both the policies we advocate for and the programs we design and implement.”
This approach reflects a growing commitment to not only supporting women and families through direct services, but also creating opportunities for participants to shape broader systems and narrative change. Grounded in dignity, autonomy, and freedom of choice, the vision for the future includes aligning programs, advocacy, and community engagement efforts to address the structural barriers that contribute to economic hardship.
Her passion for this work began early. Growing up in Los Angeles, she questioned why inequities and systemic barriers were accepted as normal. That curiosity evolved into a deeper understanding of how public policy shapes everyday life, and how equitable policies can create real opportunities for communities to thrive.
“What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to work alongside an incredible team to continue reimagining what support, economic justice, and community-centered programs can look like for women and families across Los Angeles,” shared Nabila.
In the year ahead, her goals include strengthening programs that promote financial stability and long-term economic mobility, elevating participant voices in organizational strategy, and building pathways for communities to influence the systems that impact their lives.
